Based at KrönchenCenter in the Oberstadt district, VHS Siegen is the city’s Adult Education Center. The Center offers courses and events in the fields of People and Society, Culture and Creativity, Health, Languages, Careers and IT. VHS Siegen events are held at KrönchenCenter and at many other locations around the city.

Would you like to undertake further vocational training, for example by taking a computer course or learning a foreign language? Every six months, the Adult Education Centre for the district of Siegen-Wittgenstein offers a wide range of further education courses. Courses are held across the district. Moreover, ‘German as a foreign language/second language’ presents a full range of integration courses and vocational German courses every semester.

Are you a religious person who would like to meet like-minded individuals? Perhaps you would simply like to make contact with others to share ideas or enjoy conversation? The University of Siegen has a number of faith groups, and your religious denomination will not normally make any difference. Feel free to get in touch.

Are you a student who has questions about residence permits or is having difficulties with permit extensions? The Department of ISA cannot provide legal advice, but it can offer useful support.

Are you an international doctoral candidate or researcher with questions or problems regarding your residence permit? Although the Welcome Center cannot provide legal advice, it can offer help and supply you with suitable contacts.

Do you have one or more children, or will you be having a child soon? The Family Service Office will be pleased to answer your questions on reconciling study with family life, and has a great deal of useful information and advice to offer. Do you intend to continue working in academia after completing your doctorate and are interested in a professorship (including junior, tenure-track, UAS professorship) or would you like to be informed about non-university career options? The House of Young Talents, the postgraduate centre of the University of Siegen, will be happy to provide you with information and individual counselling.

Are you a parent (or soon-to-be parent) studying at the University of Siegen and in need of financial support? The Family Service Office can advise on potential sources of finance and how to apply for them.

Do you have questions regarding financing? Are you interested in scholarships? Please be aware that very few scholarships are available at the University of Siegen. You should therefore be certain from the outset that you have sufficient reserves or financial support to fund your studies. If you are still in your home country, enquire with the local German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) office.
